XM Question / Stock AM/FM/CD

Howdy,

I have a 2007 Sierra Classic which came equipped with the factory AM/FM/single CD radio. Is it possible to add the XM tuner to this radio, and have it controlled by the factory radio, or will I need to go with a stand alone XM tuner and FM modulator like the Delphi Roady2?

One of the things American auto manufacturers do really well is build great AM tuners and this rig is no different. I absolutely love the factory radio because of the AM performance and wouldn't think about swapping it out for an aftermarket radio, but I also need my FoxNews fix, too.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

you need to look on the back of the radio to be sure. there should be an extra plug(12 pin) on the back that the xm would plug into. if you have bose i would say yes for sure. if it is not bose you will have to look.

Do anyone know if I could connect an older pioneer XM Tuner (GEXP920) to the 2007 GM factory stereo? Or am I going to need to go with this Terk Direct XM kit? I have the XM Terk Antenna and Pioneer Tuner already, I just need the adapter cable to go from the Pioneer XM tuner to the GM Factory stereo. Probably not such an adapter, huh?

Actually what you need is the adapter from the reciever to the stereo. I just ran into the same thing you can by the XMD100 reciever and pioneer terk adapter separately but you cannot buy the adapter seperately for the GM. Its sold only as a complete kit. I ended up selling my XM equipment along with my pioneer head from my former truck and used that to buy the kit on ebay new. I hope to have it installed and up tomorrow!

I installed my Terk kit yesterday. It took me longer to run the antenna wire then anything else. It works great and short of the magnetic antenna you can't tell anything has been added. Got the kit for 117 delivered so I am happy with it!

Is your 2007 Silverado the Classic version? I know that the Classic and new body style have every different stereos and need a totally different adapter cable. What kit did you end up getting and where did you get it from?

Have the 07 Classic. Its a terk setup http://cgi.ebay.com/Terk-XM-Direct-GM-Kit-...VQQcmdZViewItem

Theres an example of what I installed. I have no clue what the nbs 07's need. The install was a breeze on this one though.

I have a new Silverado HD 07-New body style. Just like the original poster my truck has the factory head unit with single CD, AM, FM, MP3. It also has the CAT button I have bee told is the key to being XM ready. However, the XM tuner is not installed.

I know I could use an AXXESS adapter (ebay) for controlling a terk XMDirect through the hu but I would really like the factory tuner so I can use a PAC device to drive an ipod through the hu also. Parts counter hasn't been much help.

Anyone here know the parts number for the factory XM tuner I need?

Try this

I put in '07 2500 HD. You can just go to accessories at top and put in model info. Call them and they'll make sure it's the right part.

After 3 aftermarket units dying over the last 3 years, I finally spent the extra for the factory parts. The kit for my '03 yukon xl was over $350, but it had an antenna, wiring harnesses, bracket, and lots of other parts that apparently aren't needed on the '07. Give them a call and see.

The place I ordered mine from seems to have a different unit listed as what you need. Check it out also to ensure you get the right item.
