hardav Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Has anyone had any experience with Jasper Engines? Stock 55k mile engine in 04 silverado spun a cam bearing. Possibly going to have one installed. I have heard of Jasper but I don't know of anyone that has dealt with one of their products. Thanks for all the help that has been received so far on my oil pressure problem in other posts.

Thanks for all the help that has been received so far on my oil pressure problem in other posts. They were once a good rebuilder but I cannot tell you a lot about them now. I don know that ATK is a great reman engine and they do a lot of the assembly work on GMs engines.
BOWTIE 3 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Jasper has done a lot of work in NASCAR. In past years they have sponsored cars and built many engines and transmissions, for their own cars and for other car-owners. If I were looking for a quality/performance engine I would definately have Jasper in North Carolina build it for me.
superbee Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I don't know where you are, but I would definitely check with some local engine builders. They can set your engine up however you want, most times at a very competitive price. You can get a torque plate hone, indexed crank, cam of your choice and valvetrain to match, as well as a serious balance for not much more. Look at the above mentioned stuff as well as true roller timing chain, brass freeze plugs, the list goes on and on. Do a little research on crate engines as well as custom stuff from your local quality builders.
FSTDL Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 If you have a service record for the vehicle then I would see if GM would help out. I would bet that they would.I think its pretty rare that that has happened and they may at least split the cost with you. Phil
fossil Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'd get a brand new GM high performance crate engine
svensk Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 If I had the money I'd buy an ls2 crate for my pickup. Serious value for the price and 400hp!

Phil I contacted GM and voiced my complaint about the spun cam bearing on my 55k mile Silverado. I am considering myself fortunate that we had come up with a resolution that I can be happy with. Considering all variables that were involved with this entire situation they are going to discard the $863 that I owe them and Pay 50% of the total cost of a new complete GM engine and installation. My truck was beyond the warranty, I am the second owner of this truck, I did not purchase this truck from a GM dealership and I have no proof except for my word that this truck was maintained properly so I am happy that GM and Dan Hemms Sidney, Ohio was able to back up their product and put confidence in GM products back into this consumer! Thanks Charlie and Donna for being professional during this process.
CapitalTruck Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Well, I would say that a person couldn't ask for better treatment than that. How refreshing it is to hear that!
