hello;

i have a 2000 silverado z71 5.3 engine; 4l60e auto.; nvg246 auto track transfercase. with only 49,250 miles on it!

i have hypertech power programmer 3; flowmaster true duel exhaust;k&n fipk intake kit; and power pullies.

i installed 6 inches of lift and running 315-75-16 tires on 16x10 aluminum rims.

i have the stock 3.73 gears with the gov.lock rearend.

i need a real world openion on what gears to install. 4.11 or 4.56?

i need info from people who have (seat of the pants) experience with this type of thing.

i do a little towing (my fishing boat and 4-wheeler). .....rarely.....

i just want my truck to perform like it was stock.

i do not do any 4 wheeling of any type (mud or rocks) just a dirt road now and then.

any comments welcome..would like to hear from some fellow silverado owners. thanks in advance scotty

I had a 454 with 4.56 tail gears and a turbo 400 that we used for severe towing. It really reved the engine though. We also had lots of trucks with 4.10 gears that did a good job. These were not overdrive transmissions, remember.

My 2 cents is go with the 4.10 gears unless you have a very specific need for the 4.56s. I have 3.73s in mine and enjoy good performance and my mileage pushes 19 pretty hard in mixed hilly driving, mostly unloaded. I do occasionally wish I had the 4.10s though.
