At idle where should the volt be reading on mine it is around 9-10 and 13.4 at crusing speed. This is for a 1995 5.7 350. Brand new battery and Alternator.

At idle should be close to 14 and should not be under 12.2. Sounds like you could have a bad battery cable/ground or something is drawing alot of load on the system.
