2000 Silverado E Brake Cable?

Good Morning to all,

When I arrived at work this morning, I always put my ebrake on before going into park.

Well this morning as I pressed it down I heard a lot pop which I later learned was the ebrake disengaging just like you would hear when you release it. Only problem is the Ebrake pedal is all the way to the floor now and I think maybe the cable snapped or something.

Has anyone else seen this before and any ideas as to what broke? How much it may cost to fix?

At least it broke and disengaged, Id really be screwed if it were the other way around.

Thanks.

Mine broke a little over a year ago. The piece that broke was on the pedal assembly where the cable attaches. If I remember right, it was about $70 for a new assembly and another $70 or so for labor to repair it.

Not sure how similar it might be to the one on my Jimmy, but I had a similar pop a week or so ago.

Turned out the end of the cable just came out of the 'U' shaped piece that makes the brake engage.

Simple fix, just put it back into the 'U'.

I was going to crimp the 'U' around the cable, but thought it better to put a ziptie around it incase the cable ever does need changed. Not sure if there's supposed to be some kind of clip to hold in on.
