New Steering shaft on my Burb

I took my 04 Burb in this weekend to the dealer to get the HVAC system looked at for a rattle noise on acceleration, which I had a bulletin for thanks to chevytech007. I also had them look at the steering because of a groan noise it makes on occasion. Then I thought what the heck, my steering hasn't had the clunk but it does feel pretty loose and wierd over bumps. So I mentioned that the steering felt strange and really loose and at times I feel a clunk going over speed bumps. Well I got it back today and they replaced my old steering shaft with a new one (part# 19153614.) It feels great! :D I feel like I have so much more control over this beast. I had an 03 silverado that had the clunk and they just lubed it and it still didn't feel this good. I didn't like fibbing but I'm almost out of warranty and you know it was going to go bad anyway. I really have a good feeling about this. I love GM, but I think they owe it to their customers to just recall this item. How many times have we seen this problem on this site. The other issues were fixed also. I got a new a/c compressor and the groan was leak at the pump shaft seal. So far I'm pleased. I'll keep everyone poasted on how things are going a few months from now. :)

It's not fibbing. You paid a lot of money for that vehicle, and you just expect to have it run the same way it was designed to. Glad to hear you like the new steering shaft.

i had that same ac noise on acceleration in my 03 suburban.after several trips to the dealer, where they could not duplicate, the compressor finally seized, and broke the serpentine belt. they fixed it then. I see it wasnt an isolated problem. I will check into that new shaft part no. Hopefully this is the fix they have been hinting about. and hopefully is not$$$$$$!!
