FM Transmitter for IPOD

Anybody ever find an FM transmitter that works? I hate my aftermarket radio, and i wanna put it back to the stock one i have...but the stock is simply AM/FM Radio, with no input for a slave CD in the back (its blocked out with no pins)

 

Is there any REALLY good FM transmitters out there? Or are they all junk? I bought one from CompUSA a few years ago and it really sucked...badly.

What about the iTrip. The new ones have an LCD screen to tell you which station there on. They always worked great for me.

I have an FM transmitter and I highly suggest keeping the aftermarket headunit and install a auxilary cable because the quality is so much higher than the transmitter. As soon as I can locate a Sony auxilary cable adapter for my Xplod headunit I will install it.

The best one i have found has to be the Audiovox FMM100A. Compared to the other half dozen we carry it is far superior....

I never had good luck with any wireless FM transmitter. My friend has a iTrip for his iPod... the only place inside the truck it works at all is sliding around on top of the dashboard.

 

But unfortunately, it looks like you don't have much choice without replacing your stock radio. You could try using a wired FM modulator (one that plugs directly into your vehicle's antenna leads) which will usually produce better sound and won't be as suceptible to interference as a wireless transmitter would.

I'd do everything that you can to avoid having to use one. If you do end up needing to use one, get one that isn't battery powered, but plugs into your cigarette lighter. WalMart sells a few like that for around $20-$25. If you have a lot of radio stations in your area, it probably won't work at all. When I lived in California, they were useless. Here in Montana, where there's only a handful of radio stations on the air, it works slightly better, but still doesn't work good.

 

You can also get a wired one, like thecraft said. They are usually more expensive though, you'd probably be better off buying a new radio that already has an auxiliary input built in for about the same price. WalMart sells a cheap radio with an auxiliary input right on the front for about $25-$30. It's not a great radio, but it will work better than an fm transmitter.
