Dual Exhaust for new Silverado

Recommended Posts

My new Silverado is due to arrive in about a week. The catback dual exhaust system that Chevy has requires the spare tire to be removed. Does anybody know of a manufacturer that would not require the removal of the spare yet still have the dual straight exit pipes? :loser:

Thanks, Jeff

This is what I have found. I have not heard that the spare tire must be removed on the GM system. That really sucks because I was planning on getting the GM exhaust also.

10hp is nothing why not get a tune for 30 hp. I looked at the Corsa site and dont see anything that says the spare has to be removed.

With the corsa, it says on the page that the spare tire stays in place. Desperado is looking for an exhaust system that allows the tire to remain so the corsa would be a good choice.

Thanks for the info. Magnaflow emailed me back stating that the spare can remain in place. I also emailed flowmaster but they haven't responded yet.

I have an 05 Ext Cab and went with the MagnaFlow, out the back. Very easy install, cleared the spare tire (20") easily. I did have to cut the old tail piece off but really enjoy the sound from the MagnaFlows very mellow. I also added the Volant with the ram cold air charge kit. Both upgrades got me 2 mpg and better mid to top end. Next step -Westers PCM...

Desperado, in case you didn't know, the GM exhaust is made by Corsa.

GM aftermarket exhausts right now are made by Borla

thats why I didnt get the cat back on my 07 NBS truck you have to loose the spare and they give you an air compresser that fits under your seat

Was it actually the dealer who told you that you have to loose the spare? Cause I hate to say it but the dealers don't seem to know much. My 07 NBS, extended cab, 6.0L max w/ 20"s the dealer can't even find the GM exhaust for it....

Is their a GM tech or parts guy on this forum who can find the me proper PN for the exhaust I need? My dealers tells me that the PN on the GM accessories zone is only for a 5.3 and not for the 6.0L????

HELP! I want to pickup my new truck but not until it's got everything on it.
