DIC with SLE1 preferred package?

I looked at 2 GMT900 GMC Sierra 1500's today both with SLE1 trim. The one I drove didn't have many options and didn't have the Driver Information Center (DIC) which shows MPG, etc. The other one I sat in had the "SLE1 Preferred package" (PCM) which inlcudes auto temeprature and steering wheel audio. This one had the DIC buttons. Does anyone know if the DIC comes with the preferred package? I think this would be similar to LT1 in the silverado.

Thanks!

The DIC buttons on the Sierra GMT-800s were on the steering wheel but they have moved them to one of two locations on the GMT-900s depending on the dash that you have. WT/SLE1 and SLE2 DIC buttons (4 of them)are to the left of the steering wheel and the in the SLT (4 of them) with the different dash they are to the right.

What is now on the steering wheel is no longer part of the DIC. Cruise control is on the left, and steering wheel audio controls are on the right.

I thought (I could be wrong) that DIC was now standard in all trim levels. As you move up the trim levels, the DIC has more functions.

You must get the prefered package on the Gmc to get the full dic. On the Lt1 Silverado you must get the convience packge.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Nick. They certainly don't make that obvious in any of the Silverado/Sierra literature or websites.

When I bought my 05 I scoured as much web info and sales lit as I could get my hands on. When I got the truck home and opened the owners manual I was sorry I did not have it before ordering so that I could have really understood what many of the options I let go really were capable of. If you can convince the dealer to let you walk with an owners manual for one night in an hour or two you will have your options list put together and be well informed as to what you are getting.
