oil question

What oil does the factory use in the NBS 07 Sierra's? Mine was made in Ft. Wayne. Is it dino, semi or full synthetic?

Your truck get 5W30 reguar oil. Only the Corvette & Cadilac get Mobil 1. Check your oil fill cap if its Mobil 1 it says so.

If it isnt mobil1 switch it over once the break in is done. the stuff is un-real slipry. On my old tahoe it gave me about a 1mpg boost, and as soon as i hit my first oil change on my new tahoe, it will be going to mobil1. Its good stuff.

I just looked and it says 5W-30. It doesn't say anything about the brand or type. Is that Dino?

If it does not say MOBIL 1 its regular oil.

My dealer service center is telling me that GM puts Synthetic in the trucks now and they could *easily" got to about 5000 miles before the first oil change. I was like WTF? They told me that the new engines are so good that there are hardly any shavings that come off and there is no need to do a change at 1000 miles (which is what I'm at now).

If the cap does not say Mobil 1 and your owners manual does not say it requires Mobil 1 its gor regular oil in it. Check pour owners manual dont trust the oil jockey..

I changed mine at about 1500 miles and it looked like something that came out of the south end of a northbound goose after a trip to the dumpster behind Taco Bell. It was BAD. I had been thinking about sending it off for analysis, but didn't because I didn't want to get yelled at by those people. I changed it again at 5,000 and it wasn't too bad. Changed it again at 12 and it seemed okay...So I'm going to start changing it when the OLM says 50% from now on.

Dark oil isnt an indicator of bad or wornout oil. Read what Bob the oil guy says.
