I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 with a 4.3 and 5 speed manual trans. I have installed a factory accesory hitch and using the supplied z82 jumper wire I have installed a Hayes brake controller. I have installed the fuse under the hood. The problem is the brake controller indicator lamp will not light with the brakes or the manual slide. It appears the there is no power at the connector under the dash. What I'm I doing wrong? Is the manual trans not set up for this or is there a connection under the hood that I am missing?

Who supplied the harness. If it is the factory harness and you are wireing into a controller many times the wire colors are different. You may need to connect the red harness to the yellow controler etc. A controller for an 02 will wire diff from a controller for an 07.

Plug in the harness and probe for a hot wire. There should be one.

I have used the factory supplied harness and it is wired properly. I checked for power at the connector under the dash and the is no power there.

Not sure how a Hawkes brake controller works, but with the Teknoska (spelling ??), the light won't come on until I connect the trailer.

I used this same controller in my 03 and it lit up even if a trailer was not connected
