What do you plan to do with the truck? The two traction devices have very different uses, and your use of the truck will determine which one would better fit your needs.

Agreed. Off-road, locking is better as both wheels will be locked and spinning. For street, limited slip is best. A limited slip off-road will typically spin the tire with less traction as opposed to a locker. I have heard many complaints about the G80 locker but I have 185K on mine with never a problem and I tow somewhat regularly and I also regularly beat on my Tahoe. I do know this, if you floor it and get slip under 20mph, when it engages it can break stuff if you keep the power on and you are on dry pavement.

well i dont do much offroading but i do accelerate and spin the tires alot but i have a locking diff is that going to hurt any thing, should i lay off the gas

From what I have heard, it is a roll of the dice. I beat my Tahoe pretty hard at times and I have never had a problem. I have heard of others that have broken it 2 and even 3 times. The issue is when it locks with lots of torque being applied, it can "grenade" as it locks. If you like to do brunouts, I would suggest changing to an eaton limited slip. If not, I would forget about is unless it blows up  Off-road or in the snow, IMO a locker is night and day better.
