Oka This A New One To Me...

So recently my truck's buzzer(or beeper or what ever you want to call it) has started to come on at random when I pull the key out... now this is totally random... like it has not done it once today.. last night I took the key out and it stayed on until I put the key back in and turned it to the on position and then back off...a few days ago it would come on ans stay on until I opened the door other times it has beeped two or three times and stopped I cannot figure out what is causing it... and it is starting to drive me crazy...

 

BTW truck is a 2004 2500HD GMC Sierra

Hmm, maybe something is sticking inside the ignition tumbler which is making the buzzer think the key is still in it?

I'd try a shot of graphite lube in there and see if that fixes it.

Hey frozen, I am glad you posted this because I thought I was experiencing a very uncommon problem. Beleive it or not, I am haveing the same problem with my '05 Sierra 2500. I just figured it was not happening all the time, so why bother taking it to the dealer and getting the "Well we can not duplicate the problem." speech from them and wasteing the 2 hr time and gas money to get there. Mine only happens about once a month or so and I just insert the key and pull it back out again and it is OK, but I am concerned about what I would need to do if the easy fix does not work or if I don't recognize it happening. Would this drain the battery, or is on a power-drain safety like the interior lights?

Let us know what you come up with and if I find an answer i will do likewise!

You might try spraying some graphite into the keyhole.
