Filling/plugging Stake Pocket Holes

Recommended Posts

OK, someone has to have found a way to do this. I have an '06 GMC crew cab, came with plastic bed rail caps, with no covers for the 4 holes. I put a new tonneau cover on, which covers about 1/2 of the holes, leaving the other 1/2 open. I want to plug or cover these holes.

I thought about puting some of those flat flip up tie downs in, but they'd be useless as tie downs because of the tonneau. I bought some plugs off ebay for this exact thing, but they don't fit the plastic bed rail caps. Any one make thier own covers? Find a GM part # that fits? Find after-market bed rail caps with out holes? Remember, mine is the 1/2 ton crew cab, with the 5'8" bed.

Well, I'm not too sure of the size of the holes (I ain't a pick-up guy) but maybe there's something HERE that would fit. (about 3/4 down the page "RECTANGULAR PLASTIC INSERT ")

Not sure if you can buy them in small lots though, they say minimum order of $50

Might be something similar at Home Depot/Lowes or something like that.

GM sells billet inserts for them...they're 90 bucks a set (2) here in Canada.

They have a flip up handle that can be used to tie things down and they are easy removal for those times when you need the holes...for what ever reason...

You can buy something like that in parts stores for a heck of alot cheaper than that.

Like THESE, $27.99

Figured it out. Nothing a razor knife couldn't fix. I'll take pictures to post when I can.

By the way, The new Extang Express cover is really cool, looks good, works good, easy to install. Me likes.
