How Does This Setup Sound

Recommended Posts

I plan on dropping in a whole new system with the following:

Infinity reference 6012si for the front doors

Infinity reference 6412cfp for the rear

JVC KD-HDR1 head unit

2 MTX Thunder 4500 10" woofers w/200 watt amp. (incorperated/pre-wired in a custom box)

All of this is going to be coming from Crutchfield. But before I pull the trigger I would like some input, I'm no stereo expert by far.

Crutchfield is a great site...For information and warranty issues...But their prices are pretty easy to beat. The amp I'm looking at is twice as much there as it is from other online vendors and about what I can buy it for locally.

Don't get me wrong, I like Crutchfield, I've bought quite a bit there, and their information pages are second to none in the online world...But the last couple of years their prices have gone up to make them not-so-competitive with other online stores.

All my opinion of course

The setup you picked should sound great!

Agreed with Wingnut, you could find that same setup somewhere else for a bit cheaper.

Infinity for the win

Holy crap your right, I found www.supercrewsound.com and they have the same amp'd Thunderform box w/speakers for $200 less. Still searching for more deals on the remaining stuff.

Trigger pulled, I went ahead and stayed with Crutchfield for the head unit and speakers due to the sale they were having and they threw in all harnesses and brackets free. As for my woofers and amp I went with the super crew sound website and saved $170 after shipping. I'm deployed right now and will be installing myself when I get home in a couple months...I'll post an update then. Time to email momma and have her keep an eye out for the goods. Thanks for the advice.

I have those 4x6 infinitys I also have the kicker rs 6.5 in the doors ampd by a kicker zx350.4 I thought i might have to upgrade the infinitys to keep up with the hi wattage kickers but they are perfect amplified for the rear speakers. As for the front infinitys youve got i would have gotten components but im just picky. Anyways hope the system comes out good. Anyone know if that HD radio is free if i just install the adapter or whatever?

What's up fellas. I'm brand new to this site, so take it easy on me.

You guys should check out the latest Kenwood Excelon 6 3/4" components (KFC-XW1710P). They're a 2 ohm set of components that sound awesome!

Advantages of a 2 ohm configuration are: 1) that you get the most performance out of your amplifier by having it operate at a lower impedance, 2) you get a hell of a lot more sound output at 2 ohms, & 3) they could be used as a direct drop in replacement for your stock BOSE system!

I've personally heard them next to the Infiniti components and the difference is day and night! Call up a few dealers and see if they have both sets so you could hear them for yourselves.

I have the '06 version of the excelon components (KFC-X1700P) up front in my truck and they f'in rock! Note: the '06 version are a 4 ohm set, so I can only imagine what the 2 ohm set sounds like in a real life application.

Just my 2 cents.
