Occasionally when I first start my truck in the morning the low coolant message comes on untill I shut the truck off and restart it. It's very intermittent. The coolant is actually a little above the cold line when it's cold. I have cleaned the sensor connector, even the sensor in the tank. But it still does it.anyone else have this problem?

2002 RCSB 5.3 53000 mi.

This is common on the silverado,go to the dealer and get a new coolant reservouir it comes with a new sensor in it,replace the cap at the same time.

only if its worth it to you

someday you might ignore it when it really is low

I wouldn't replace it, the new one will probably do the same thing eventually. What if the message dosen't come on when it is actually low? Same problem. Check under the hood once a week as a habit and you will be fine.

I ended up just cleaning th tank out real good with dish soap and one of those long brushes for drinking glasses and I have'nt had any problems since.

I had the same problem on my 2001 only mine started acting up at around 90000 miles, the new tank cost me about 50 and some change from the dealer, and it fixed the problem, I now have over 125000 miles on mine and no problems.

A little off subject if you allow: nice parking job! Sure keeps hostile door dings at a minumum.
