If anyone knows of a nice 99-01 TDI Beetle w/5-spd for sale chime in. My wife always liked the New (and old) Beetles and I told her if she could find a TDI (diesel) in nice shape should could buy it. It would be a summer beater car and something for the kids to drive when they get old enough (starting next year)!

thanks

A girl at work's brother is big into VeeWee's (and she somewhat is too). I'll see if they know of any.

He has a garage/shop down on RT 8, probably between 5-10 miles south of Butler.

I'll be able to ask her tonight at work, but probably wont have an answer until Monday.

Hey! Thanks for your help and interest!

But, I found one in Chicago that was misslisted and got a screaming deal on it and I'm flying out of Pittsburgh Sat early Am and driving it home.

The pictures looked great and I kept calling and making the salesman go back out and do another walk-around. The car sounds real nice with the TDI 5-speed in white with black heated leather and a moonroof. The odometer reads 88.8K with good rubber, no rust etc... The only unanswered question is the timing belt. I have to assume that it was done around 60K miles (that is what VW recommends for a '00). For safety sake I'll have it changed in the next 5K miles...

This was a 1-owner car (according to Carfax).

Wish me luck on a virgin 450 mile trip home! I'm doing the flight, the deal and the return trip all in 1 day!!!

Sounds like when I bought the Silverado :D

Flew down, did the deal, and promptly put several hundred miles on it getting it home.

Congrats man :D

WOW! Is this car nice! I ran the snot out of it on the way home and got 48+ MPG's.

The car is exceptionally clean for a 7 year old car and everything works! It's obvious the previous (1 owner) took care of it...

The whole trip took 14 hours from the time I left my house to go to the airport and the time I pulled in the driveway with my wifes car!! She is thrilled with it and that is a good thing for me!!! (hint)

I got it at a Saturn dealership in Glenview. I flew into O'hare and took a taxi about 10 miles to the dealership.
