Finially got it!

2007 dark blue vmax with 4:10's

So far its great, Drove home about 30 miles which is country roads. (55 speed limit)

My gas mileage was 18.4. I will take that anyday! I was a little concerned about the 4:10's

sucking gas but it spent alot of time in v-4 mode which helped.

I do have one problem, the dealer installed my new Prodigy break controller and it does nothing.

I noticed it didnt have any lights or anything so I connected it to the trailer and nope nothing.

Kind of pi##es me off they would hook it up and not test it all. At least look for a light telling you

the thing turns on.

Is there a jumper or somthing they may have forgotten?

Congrats on the new truck! Your mileage sounds great --- I have the 6.0 with the 3.73's and am only getting around 15mpg ... mixed hwy and local.

Dumb question, but did the dealer install the trailer brakes fuse? It comes from the factory without the fuse installed. Had similar problen after installing my brake controller.

Taking first long trip with camper attached this weekend (6000lbs, going total around 500mi). Curious to see how often 4cyl mode kicks in hitched up...

Congrats! I just got my new truck too.....2007 Black 1500 MAX LTZ extended cab.

Curious....although my truck has HD trailering (via LTZ package), I did not find a brake control pigtail for my Prodigy brake controller. Does anyone know if one should be included as they were in the past?

did they hook up the power leads under the hood or just install the controller to the wires under the dash? look at the fuse box under the hood driverside there is 2 posts up front trailer power and brake controller power

With a load hooked up it stays in v8 mode at all times from what i've seen. I've been pulling my ski boat around probably about 3500-4000lbs after gear and fuel and I literally forget it's back there. Never has to come out of OD on the interstate in South MS. With my avalanche it would barely maintain OD going downhill. Funny story, I was taking my boat out the other day and went to pass an big rig up a hill, he started swerving so i got into it alittle and dropped to 3rd gear, my g/f said uhoh you dropped OD, i replied we're going 90 acclerating uphill with a boat behind us then just smiled. I slowed her back to 75 once i got around so don't go yelling about driving reclkless just yet. I know it's not a diesel, but for the 6.0 does the job that i need it for flawlessly, the tune also helped quiet a bit. Hope you're trip goes good.

Obtw congrats on the new truck seamonster, i'm sure you will love it. I've been seeing a ton of red VMAX emblems lately.

Congrats on the Truck! I just picked up my black v-max crew cab last weekend. I too noticed there was no brake control pigtail. I have been meaning to call the dealer but haven't had a chance. Man, that 6.0 is thirsty. I am averaging 13.7 mpg mixed city / highway. I hope it imporves. I was pulling a solid 17mpg out of my 04 Sierra with the 5.3.

There is no more electronic brake control harness pigtail,Heres a bulletin on it,It also mentions the wire that must be hooked up to stud #2 as topdj mentioned in his post......

Subject: Information on Electric Trailer Brake Controller Wiring - Towing, Tow #06-08-45-008 - (10/10/2006)

Models: 2007 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2007 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL

Some customers may have questions on how to connect an electric trailer brake controller or where the brake controller pigtail harness is located.

Starting with the new 2007 full size utilities and pickups, there is no longer an electric trailer brake controller pigtail harness.

The trailer brake controller wiring is now part of the Instrument panel wiring harness and the blunt cut wires are located under the left instrument panel, behind the data link connector. There are four blunt cut wires in this harness as described below.

Wire Color

Circuit #

Description

Red/Black

242

12 Volt power supply (30A stud #2)

Dark Blue

47

Trailer brake output voltage

White

22

Ground

Light Blue

6311

Stop light input

The Red/Black circuit 242 must be connected to stud #2 of the 30 Amp fuse of the UBEC. This wire is located between the left fender and the UBEC (1). Refer to Trailer Connector/Provision Schematic in SI for document information on the trailer brake control-- Domestic.

Heres the bulletin on the wire that must be hooked up to stud #1 for trailer power....

Subject: Auxiliary Power To 7-Way Trailer Connector - keywords aux brake harness lamp light tow towing ubec wiring #PIT4407 - (05/29/2007)

Models: 2007 Cadillac Escalade Models

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2007 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali Models

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may notice that there is no power at the Auxiliary power terminal of the 7-way trailer connector. Circuit 742 Red/Black is the power feed to the 7-way connector.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To have power at the 7-way connector, circuit 742 must be connected to Stud 1 (40 Amp Fuse) of the UBEC. The wire is taped to the engine/chassis harness under the master cylinder near the I-shaft.

Circuit 242 (Used to power aftermarket trailer brake controller-Blunt cut end under dash near DLC)

Circuit 742 (Used to power 7-way trailer connector for Auxiliary Power to trailer)

Note: Do not confuse 742 with circuit 242 (Doc ID 1850768) which is used to power an aftermarket trailer brake controller. When installing an aftermarket trailer brake controller, circuit 242 must be connected to Stud 2 (30 Amp Fuse) of the UBEC. This circuit is taped to the engine harness between the UBEC and Left Fender. More information on this can be found in Bulletin 06-08-45-008.

I'm the expert brake man. Had enough trouble with mine to know get a "Mr. Goodwrench" badge.

Look for a few posts on here about electronic trailer brake.

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...63&hl=Brake

Bottom Line,

Look at he front of the fuse box, is there two wires hooked up, two red wires. Also, look at 75 + 80 (I think) and see if there are fuses in there. There needs to be two wires hooked up infront of the fuse box.

Congrats on the new truck! That's really good mileage. I have a crew cab with the 6.0L with 4.10's also, and I'm averaging ~13 mpg after 540 miles of driving mixed city and country roads. I'm hoping it gets better with time.

I'm having my brake controller installed this afternoon at the place I bought my travel trailer. Hope they get all this wiring correct. I'll be taking a print-out of the bulletin above just in case.

We'll see how the 6.0L with 4.10's tows my ~7000# trailer later today

Confirmed they did not connect the 2 wires under the hood.

I will do it tomorrow.

I am also getting a cap put on tomorrow, I will see if I can figure out how to put

pictures on here.
