Westers Custom Tuning On Sale!

We are offering 12% off the Westers custom tuning and free shipping to locations in the 48 states and Canada for orders placed through Tuesday, July 10th.

This tuning has been very popular for trucks and SUVs. Horsepower and torque is increased, torque management is greatly reduced (you won't feel the vehicle "lay down" during the 1st to 2nd shift anymore), fuel mileage can increase and overall driveability can improve!

A custom programming form will be provided after you place your order. This allows you to note your vehicle's info and there is also a place for you to let the tuner know what you are looking to get from this upgrade. Some people might only want to focus on performance, some might lean towards better gas mileage and others may want something that is in the middle.

A quick rundown is below. More details can be seen in the Truck Ignition sections of our site.

Standard with all performance tunes

Complete reflash of the PCM to your VIN, with all factory updates.

Dyno developed performance tune optimized for your exact engine and transmission combination.

Raised and optimized shift points.

Firm, but not harsh, shifts.

Elimination of all torque management that can be safely removed

Some of the more common modifications to ask for.

Raising the top speed limiter to any speed you specify.

Specifying the exact shift points you want in every gear.

Firmer (or softer) shifts.

Specific tuning for your modifications, like larger than stock tires, gear ratio change, supercharger, turbo, headers, cam change, higher stall converter, engine modifications, etc.

BENEFITS:

Lifetime warranty (no cost or fees)

Lifetime updates for all future mods ($45 shipping and handling fee)

Lifetime full price paid credit toward your next custom tune for your next vehicle ($45 shipping and handling fee)

No vehicle downtime! You will receive your recalibrated PCM before sending your core back. Want to upgrade this for other mods in the future? No downtime here either! The same thing can be done for this too.

HORSEPOWER GAINS:

Customers have been seeing about 24-34hp from the 5.3 28-50hp from the 6.0 and 25-55 horsepower from the 8.1 motor. The spread depends on how aggressive the tuning is along with other modifications that are done to the vehicle. Fine tuning for other mods will sometimes make more of a different than just running those with the stock programming.

Torque management is GM's effort to reduce transmission wear by reducing engine output through timing retard during “abusive” maneuvers. The problem here is that GM believe acceleration from a stop is an “abusive” maneuver, as is punching the throttle during a highway merge. Both of these maneuvers cause an immediate reduction in engine power – the characteristic fraction-of-a-second delay you experience when you try to make your truck . We reduce this approximately 75-80%, which still leaves enough TM to protect from the most abusive maneuvers. We believe it makes for a safer and more responsive truck without introducing unnecessary wear on the drivetrain. The “Remove most all” option on the order form is appropriate for most owners.

Transmission shifting. This refers to how long of a delay there is between gear shifts. The “firmer” the shift, the shorter the delay. GM sets shifting for smooth shifts, which gives their trucks more of a “car-like” ride. While this might appeal to some customers, the flip side of a smooth shift is that it actually shortens the life of the transmission due to the slip between shifts. We can increase the line pressure to give you a firmer-than-stock shift and reduce the shift timing to eliminate delay between gears. An ideal setting for most customers is midway between “Normal” and “Firm”. Select “Normal” if you have installed a shift kit or other transmission shift modification.

Shift RPM. The RPM at which an upshift occurs at wide open, or full, throttle (WOT). The stock setting for our trucks is usually 5200 RPM. Some customers will want to leave this stock, but we recommend 5600 as the best all around shift point. 5800 RPM is the maximum recommended value for this parameter with stock cam and valve springs, but we can and will set this to any RPM you desire.

Speed limiter. GM trucks come programmed from the factory with a speed limiter set at appx 100 MPH

Most customers choose this to 130MPH, effectively eliminating the speed limiter. We can set this to any speed you request, just be sure your tires are rated for the speed you actually go!

The discount can be taken off of the prices that are listed in the Truck Ignition section of our website. Orders can be placed online or by giving us a call at 1-877-482-9763. A custom tuning form will be e-mailed after you place your order. That can be filled out, signed and then faxed or e-mailed to us.

Have a good day!

Why so expensive?

I believe the Wait4Me tunes are a fraction of the cost you have on your website, and Wheatleys is also about 1/2 the price of yours???

Wait4Me advertises tuned PCM's for $75 and $157 without core exchange.

Wheatleys are about $250 I believe.

Just curious as to the huge price difference.

I agree on the outrageous price. I can say I had wester's on my 04 silv 5.3 and it really worked wonders and the truck was a whole different beast. I am not sure about other tuning companies, but to guarentee the PCM for life and give you full credit on a new vehicle tune seems to be a good deal. I now have the 6.0L NBS 07 silv., and to know that I can get the tune for my new truck at no cost is great. From what I have heard Wester's was the first tuner available for the NBS. I am just waiting on the guy to call me back in Dallas to get the new truck tuned. I have had great service from them and a guy that has 20+ years tuning our specific trucks you just can't beat. As I have said before I haven't tried other tunes, but everyone else's post I have read seem to have had good customer service too. The other nice thing about Wester's is you can dyno tune your truck for about the same as a mail order tune. The kicker is driving to Dallas to dyno the truck.

Wait4me offers the same deal at a better price. How can a upgrade be "free" but shipping and handling is $45? Wait4me has lifetime upgrades for free + $8 for shipping. They also offer credit towards another tune if you change vehicles. I think a tune is a tune as long as the person doing it knows what they are doing. The main 3 or 4 companies doing tunes obviously know what they are doing. I would guess they are all equal because there is no secret or trick to tuning as long as you have the equipment. Save your money and get a W4M tune and spend the rest on other upgrades like exhaust ot intake.

Yep, it's either Wait4Me or Wheatleys for me, whoever can deliver first. Prices between these 2 are comparable and I have heard nothing but good about both.

Jesse and Charlie, are you listening? First one to get back to me gets my $$$

You sometimes get what you pay for. Westers has been tuning for many years and providing very good results. They might cost more than some others but we still sell alot of them! :driving:

I for one wish each of the guys doing tunes would provide one free of charge to someone with the proper equipment to run each one of them under the same conditions & put to an end the arguments of which is best...everyone has their own opinions as to which is best & usually it is the one they are associated with or the one they are using which is understandable. No hard facts are out there as to whether one is better than the other.

Do you have any computer cores for the 2007 GM trucks so my truck won't be down for a week and half if I have to send my computer to be reprogrammed?

I talked to Brian from Wester's today and he himself does not have any NBS PCM. He said, right now they are pretty hard to come by considering the truck is brand new and uses a different PCM. I live here in Shreveport, LA and will be driving to Dallas, TX to get the tune done on my 6.0l this weekend. However that is not to say tbyrne could have them.

Josh -- Please let us know what the outcome of your tune is when you get it done. I also have the 6.0 NBS and really want to get this done ASAP. Did they give you any indication what they could change, i.e. the lag caused by the Active Fuel Management? Any expectations for MPG increase? Thanks.

I checked on cores this week and was told that there currently isn't any available. The new ones are in very short supply.

FYI, AFM does NOT cause any "lag". If it does, there is something wrong with your truck and there is a TSB for some NBS trucks to address this. You may need a reflash done to your ECM. More likely, what you are experiencing is the "lag" caused by TM. Big difference.

While I agree this is very true (that is why I bought a Sierra over a Turdra). I have seen ALOT of feedback from people who have had Jesse at Wait4Me or Charlie at Wheatleys do their tunes and I have yet to hear anything negative about either one. They are BOTH significantly cheaper than you are. Not sure why, but I am guessing it's due to lower overhead. I will wait for either Jesse or Charlie and I am confident I will be as happy as EVERY customer I have heard feedback from on this and other forums. Then I plan on using the several hundred dollars I saved to buy me a portable NAV unit :driving:

Jeff, You are correct, I just could not think of the Torque Mnagement when I was replying earlier. The TM lag is very aggravating to me. I ahve always been used to the "power at the pedal" feel from my other vehicles. I hope that the guys who are able to perform the tunes on the NBS trucks can figure out a way to overcome this problem. The way it is now, my old 5.3 had more initial pep than the 6.0! By the way, now that you have a few more miles on your truck, how is your gas mileage? I am seeing 13's in town if I stay off the gas peddle.
