so i called 3 chevy dealers today because my wait4me tune will be here tomm. i asked all three simply if they will do a crank relearn on a vehicle. the first dealership said yes but it would cost somewhere near $100. the second said we won't touch your truck. and the 3rd told me i was STUPID for putting a tune in my truck .. tunes dont work ... its a pile of crap ... and then he told me i hope you like your chip when your truck goes boom. what a dick! i told him i bought it from someone who has high reccomendations and then he said "your right ... you would know better than me" and hung up!!!!!... anyone from around my area that might know of someone who's not a compete a$$hole! GOD

i'm not from your area, but i can certainly relate to your gripe..........dealer reps and parts and shop personnel definately need a reallity check.

i inquired about a part that adds the DIC switch to my NBS '07 and was told i would fry the computer by simply plugging it in.........success of this add-on part is posted here on this site with many guys posting of how they had no problems.

the dealer parts guy went on further to ask me for my VIN number, and when i asked why, he said it was so they could enter it in their system so they could null and void the warranty on any related issues with the computer.

Duh........like i was going to do that...........i ordered from a place up in Washington. they told me there is no problem with adding the part.

i just can't believe how rude the 2 of them were. and they guy that said it would be somewhere near $100 said well we never really know how long it's gonna take. that's just an estimate .. it can take a few hours?! i thought it only took maybe 10 minutes from what i've read on here ... sounds like this guy was tryin to jack me around maybe ... i dunno

Can't say I blame them for not wanting to do it. I wouldn't do it either. If something happens to your auto because of the tune they would be left holding the bag because they were the last to touch it doing the relearn. Now they didn't need to be rude about it but, I'm with them on not wanting to touch it.

no ... it wasn't worth it ... i just said whatever ... all i could say ... i'm going down that way in a bit tho so i'm gonna stop by and have a lil chat ;)

Don't bother with the dealer if you're putting anything in or on your vehicle that doesn't say "GM" on it. Find a local performance shop - most of them should have a tech2 and will probably do it for ya much cheaper. Heck, most of your typical vehicle repair centers should have one, and I doubt they are going to care what you've done to your vehicle.

This should be pretty simple. If GM has a plicy that all aftermarket computer retuning is illegal under the terms of their warranty, they should state so and declare your warranty null and void if you do it. Then there should be something in the system that senses and records any changes done so they could be retrieved. This would force people to wait until the warranty expiration to modify their vehicle.

In any case, explain it in pure and simple terms. No need for any rudeness.

Ont he other hand some people will never be happy even if their truck came with a 1,000 HP engine in stock form. If some schmuck somewhere offered a performance chip for it, they would install it.

Hey Man, Sorry for your bad luck. I am from Tomah, WI. I am sure you know where that is. Give me the names of the dealers so I know not to go to them for anything!!!!!! I deal with Vandermeer Chevy here in Tomah. That is where I bought the truck and I have even been jacked around lately. Assho!es!!! Last week I wanted to get my interior cleaned, Service Writer said can't do it. I said why not, he said the man is on Vaca. I was thinking in my head, like there ain't another falker that can't operate a goddamn vacume/shampooer. About 2 weeks before that I wanted my tranny serviced (02 Silverado with 69,000). It was time to do it. The Service Writer said it would be $110. I thought that was kinda high for just a drop of the pan and new filter and 4 quarts of oil. So I checked around, Brenengen in Sparta wanted $120 for a flush, (I supplied the filter), and they could not get me in until the following week. So I called the one in West Salem, they said the same thing $120 for a flush with the Wynns treatment, (very kind and repectful might I add, no problems at all), and I got in that morning. I guess you have to find a good dealer or reputable service shop and stick with them. (I know they are d**n hard to find anymore.) So many assho!es want to screw ya and not do anything for the money. BASTARDS!!! I just thought I would share with ya my experiances with the Coulee Region Chevy Dealers. Here is another place to check, Tri-State Auto Outlet in Hokah MN. I bought a GMC from them and they were pretty decent to me. They might do it for ya I don't know, worth a try. Just my opinion.

Is your truck throwing a code for the crank relearn? If not, don't worry about it and leave it alone.
