I am pulling my factory deck out of my 2000 chevy 1500, and it has factory speed controlled volume. Do i need an adapter when installing a pioneer deck? I do not have steering wheel controls

I have a 2001 that came with the am/fm radio, I want a cd but could not decide which one. So I called the dealer figuring I go with AC delco untill I picked an aftermarket out. He quoted me $500.00 for the radio, install and computer reset. I ask why couldn't I go to Ebay and but it thier for $80.00? He said the SCV would not work. That was six years ago- I bought it off ebay and plugged it in without any SCV and have not had any problems- If I want it louder I reach over and crank in up. I hope this helps

Chris, yes that helps alot, have heard everything from speedo wont work, to door chimes wont work either. Did your factory radio have scv on it?

My orginal radio did not it, barely had anything it was the cheapest ac delco radio made. The "new" AC delco did have the slot for the SCV and it is not hooked up and I never reset my computer to "recoginize" the cd player and like I said it's been 6 years no problems.
