Looking To Buy A 2005 Or 2006 Duramax

Hi there, newbee here. I am looking to replace my 2005 1500 HD CC with a 2005 or 2006 Duramax. I have read a lot of threads about the difference between the LLY & LBZ and the 4sp vs 6sp Allison transmission. Looking for comments from the people who own them, do you think the 06 is worth the extra $4 to $6k over the 05. Primary use will be a daily driver 50-60 miles a day mix of city highway with occasional towing of a 9000 lb 5^th wheel trailer.

You DO want an LBZ with the six-speed Allison.

You might just made a typo, but the '05 Allison is a 5-speed.

 

I think both years are fine trucks. I'm very happy with my '05 and dogzapper loves his '06!

 

The '06 has more power, but for a few hundred bucks, you can put a small chip in the '05 and make more power if you need it.

You can get the LBZ in the 05's but they only put a few LBZ's in in the last quarter of producing the 05's

 

so you could get lucky!

 

If it were me i would surly go for the 06 LBZ
