14 Bolt? 10'

I'm trying to get the bracket that holds the rear caliper. Both sides. All of the sites want to know the ring gear size or the number of bolts. That is in an area that seems stupid to have to take apart just for some info. The truck is '02 K2500HD G80 & 4.10 axle. Any help out there?

That title should be 10" not 10'.....that would be a whopper of a gear!

there are a couple 14 bolt rears. The 9.5" and the 10.5" are most common. Your truck should be a 10.5" There is an 11.5" but i'm not sure if it's 14 bolt or not and i think it was only avaible with the 8.1 and the duramax. Mine is a 10.5" and its a 2002 2500HD with 6.0 and 4.10's

I may be wrong, but from various sources around the net, the 9.5" 14 bolt is for 2500 Light duties with the 6 lug rotors, 10.5" is single rear wheel HDs with gas engines, and the 11.5" is duallies and/or diesels.

I have a 2500 LD with a 14 bolt rear end and 8 lug wheels, so is that the 10.5" rear?

6.0 single rear wheel = 10.5

6.0 dually, 8.1, 6.6 = 11.5

I have a buddy with a 1991 K2500 Sierra and it's got 6 lugs on the axles.

That would be a "Light-Duty" 2500 with a GVWR of 7200 lbs.

The "Heavy-Duty" 2500s with eight lug axles had a GVWR of 8600 lbs.

Amazing how this can get confusing in a hurry. Are there actually 3 different 2500's? Mine is not an "HD" the badging says just 2500. It has the 14 bolt rear end and 8 lug wheels. Is there a year that they switched the 2500's from 6 lug to 8 lug?

Yes,They did....All the 2500 GMT800's from '99-up are eight-lug,To make it even more confusing there was also the 1500HD model that also had eight-lug axles.

By the way....Your 2500 is considered a "Light-Duty" but has a GVWR of 8600 lbs.The '01-up 2500 "HD"s have a GVWR of 9200 lbs.

No, The 8 lug 14 bolt rears in the LD's are semi float and have a 9.5" ring gear.

8 lug 14 bolt rears in the HD's are full floating axles with the 10.5 ring gear.

8 lug 14 bolts with dually rear wheels are full floating axles with the 11.5 ring gear.

I have a 1994 2500HD (8600 GVWR) with 8 lug floating axles. My differential cover is rotting away. From reading this post, it sounds like I have a 14 bolt, 10.5" rear. Can anyone confirm, or tell me how to find out? Thanks.

6.0 single rear wheel = 10.5
6.0 dually, 8.1, 6.6 = 11.5

WEFs99, the short answer for your truck is if you have the 6.0L, it's the 10.5 ring gear, if you have the 8.1L or the DMax, it's the 11.5 ring gear. Both are 14-bolt.
