Blower Motor Resistor

I attempted to pull out the blower motor resistor on my 95 Yukon but there is not engouh room to pull it out all the way. There must be a trick to this but I can't figure it out. My motor works on all speeds but on high it blows like it is on low.

all you have to do is.

 

Unplug the conncetor

Remove the 2 screws

and pull it out

 

install in reverse order

The problem is when I try and pull it out the top of the dash gets in the way. The coils will not clear the mounting suface.

Do you have the glove box removed

Glove box is removed. i was thinking I could bend the coils to get it out but I would also have to bend the new one and that might screw up the resistence.

I forgot this is the vehicle you have to unbolt the dash and move it up and back to get the resister out.

Thank you!! I have it replaced but motor still spins too slow. Relay, resistor, Motor all replaced but nothing helped. Anything else that can be changed that might alleviate this problem?

Ok. I think I am about to feel dumb. Is the purple wire negative or positive going to the blower motor?

purple is positive

Man I really feel bad. I took my whole dash apart to replace a resistor that did not need to be changed becuase I thought purple was negative:((
