Daytime Running Lights On Nbs Silverado

I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how the new DRL system works on the new Silverado. I am looking to put in HID's in the truck but want to know if the drl system runs on a lower voltage than 12 volts in the drl mode. The hid lights need to be run on 12 volts all the time. I know i can turn them off once in the truck when you turn the dial back, but I would really like to just have them off all the time and not have to worry or remember to turn the dial. I usually turn the fogs on anyways in the day for the drl. Maybe if there was a way to have the drl switch to the fogs? The other issue is that i don't want to lose the function of the auto on headlights. If anyone can help with this that would be great!!!!!
