Ignition Timing

Can anyone tell me the correct ignition timing procedure for a '98 Vortec 350? It is in a chevy k3500.

From my experience, there is very little you can do because of the computer. Alignment is the key. Gotta be TDC and have the rotor pointing at the little mark inside the distibutor housing(not the cap). You will see two little tabs at different positions marked with a 6 or 8. Point your rotor towards the 8 and you are set.

You need a scan tool that will check cam retard or cam offset. Most $600 and under scanners wont do this. I went to an indepedent shop and they adj for $50.
