Line -x Vs Rhino.......

.......any difference between the two? How does this stuff hold up over 3 or 4 years, especially the color? Approximate cost?

RHINO and LINE-X both run about the same price...$400+ The RHINO product is a little rougher texture than the LINE-X from the applications I've seen. The color(s) can be "rejuvenated" with spray on products. You can pay extra for color matched liner now. Both offer lifetime warranty.

REFLEX is another spray in product you can research. My salesman tried to convince me to use REFLEX, but I couldn't find a local shop to apply it. Reportedly, the price is about the same as the other two.

I went with the LINE-X on my '07 Silverado crew cab LTZ. Their product drys in minutes as opposed to the RHINO which would've taken longer to cure in the shop. Maybe the RHINO is thicker (?).

A search using "line-x" or "rhino" will yield lots of posts asking this same question with a lot of good information.

 

After a lot of reading and some research I went with line-x, but both are good.

 

For me the Line-X had the following advantages:

- nationwide warranty

- looks better (hot sprayed, the rhino is cold sprayed and some say looks a bit cottage cheesey)

 

The rhino is a bit more rubbery in feel and tends to hold onto cargo better than line-x so this could be an advantage, however I can see where this can be disadvanted if you are trying to slide something heavy into your truck bed.

 

Make sure they installer is experienced. This can be a bigger potential for being unhappy with the liner than the liner itself.

I've got the Line-X and it's the second truck I've had it on. I've never had the Rhino, but I like the look of the Line-X better, and I've seen plenty of faded Rhino liners, not so with the Line-X. It may come down to cost and personal preference, when I got mine done, the Rhino was $50.00 cheaper, but like was previously mentioned, I wanted a product with a nation wide warranty!

Here's a vote for Reflex Liners. It was $100 dollars cheaper here where I live. Got it sprayed in for $399, and it uses a polyurethane mixture for rubber like grip. Check iit out if you can.

I vote for Line-X. No, I vote for Rhino. Both are about the same price. Both excellent products. Offsetting penalties-replay the down. Does anybody really feel the plastic removable shell liners are any good? Glad that discussion is past. The Line-X is a hard liner. Rhino has that type too. I went with the soft liner from Rhino because the Permatex (also a very good product) guys in town who did my last truck don't do them any more. That left the nearest Permatex dealer out of state. That stuff was so good, beside my truck bed and rails, I also had my trailer hitch and tow hooks covered on my 91 GMC. Also did the wife's trailer hitch on the Jeep. The soft and gummy stuff held up superbly. That left Line-X about 70 miles from me and the Rhino dealer 17 miles from me. All of them fade. No matter who you talk with. You really want that stuff glossy black after ten years? Whether it's hot pack or cold pack applied is irrelevant. You're dealing with preparation and application experience and product warranty. The stuff is only as good as the tech who applies it. The Rhino place near me has one guy who does them all for the last 11 years. No call backs. All the guys I talked with who had Rhino applied loved it. I went with Rhino out of convenience.

zozmanGMC I really like that truck in black. I bet it is a B to wash though. The one reason I am never getting a truck in black. The way I am I would be washing it every other day.

Both are good liners. I have a rhino-liner. My reason for getting a rhino liner over a line-x was strictly price. I got my rhino for about 150 bucks cheaper than the line-x(dealer was offering a special at the time). Both have their positives and negatives. With nothing in the bed, a line-x looks slightly better however I use my truck as a truck and really, it doesn't matter what the liner looks like when it's buried by mulch or dirt or whatever. I've had two different rhino liners and yeah, after a year or two they start to fade out just a tick but you buy a bottle of rhino-shine for 20 bucks and you're looking as good as new again. I'd say buy whatever is cheaper and just take care of it. People say rhino liners fade out over time but if you take care of it, it won't. Paint fades over time too, but everyone waxes their rig on occasion to protect it(at least those that care do). Just my $0.02...

i will agree on the prep work is 90% of the durability ... i have seen some shops that all they do is wash the bed out and spray it in ... they get returns later with chips and such ... but the ones that wash it good ... then scuff it up good ... and hit it with a tac cloth before spraying it in ... dont get near the amount of returns...
