Maybe this will help for the scratches. http://www.quixxusa.com

As for the gas smell :puke:

leave the trunk open in the garage and throw a small shop fan back in there, and if the trunk liner comes out... just pull her out and shampoo/hose her down

it'll disappear or fade sooner or later

If you don't want to buff it, just get some rubbing compound and use one of those little round wax applicator pads (not sure what they're called). I worked at a detail shop in high school and this seemed to take care of minor scuffs in the clearcoat pretty well...

If you have trouble getting rid of the gas smell, charcoal is a wonderful odor absorber and believe it or not, newspaper does very well. Just wrinkle up lots of old nespaper and fill up the trunk. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times along with some charcoal but it will go away.

Baking soda is also a good odor absorber.....you might sprinkle it around in the trunk and leave it there for a while then vacuum it up. Beats me if it'll work on gasoline vapors but you can let us know later.

For the gasoline, without using a hot water extractor your best bet is going to be some simple green, a scrub brush, some hot water, terry cloth towels and a shop vac to remove as much as possible. If it soaked into the carpet covered cardboard stuff that normally covers a spare tire in any sedan it's not going to come out very well but if it's just the trunk mat he'll get it out it will take a bit of time and effort though.

For the scuff marks, pick up a clay kit at a parts store and the marks should come off, it won't help with scratches, but it will take off the stuff let behind by the cart without removing paint. If there are scratches then Scratch-X is a mild enough polish that it won't take off too much clearcoat. Oh, and wash the panel before you do this or you'll induce scratches from the dirt on the surface.
