My 68 C10 Project (w/pictures)

Now that I have enough posts to make my own post, I thought I would throw up some pics of my project. It started life as a 1968 long bed. When I bought it in Feb 2004 for $1000 it was already very cherry. I replaced alot of the chrome and the bumpers which had been painted over with new stuff, and installed a 350 crate engine. I had driven it five times (150 miles) and was hit in the side by a drunk driver. So I started over. Literally!

Found a new frame and shortened it to factory SWB specs. It now has all new sheetmetal. Some custom touches are shaved emblems, shaved stakepockets, smoothed firewall, power frenched antenna, LED 3rd brake light, rear fuel tank with the custom fuel filler onthe left bedside, and a custom dash among others.

Wow that is going to be one mean lookin truck. What color are you going to paint it? Have you ever seen project copperhead from Trucks on Spike TV? the orange they painted that looked awsome.

Anyway your truck looks good already. Post more pic when you get em.

Yeah, Stacey built one mean truck in Copperhead! Him and PPG came up with that color, mostly his mix idea.

This one will be a dark blue, almost identical to the 2007 Dodge Ram Patriot Blue.

Though I would put up a few more pics. I sectioned an old glove box door so that it would be roughly the same size as the gauge panel. I have it in primer now, ready for paint, but haven't taken any pics of it like that. Here are some pics of the sectioning job. I'm also mocking up the opening for the dash on the bench first, I want to be sure I get the opening the right size and shape, and get the hinge figured out before I go cutting up the new dash!

I'm jealous! Can you do my '69? It only has a few dings, dints, and a lot of rust collected over the last 40 years! J/K it looks like it is coming along good.
