Driving Lights Really Pissing Me Off

On my silvy, the one driving light decides when it wants to work. I can smack it and it will work then I can check it later and it wont work anymore. Pretty much EVERY SINGLE pre 05 silverado, suburban, gmc, tahoe you name it 4wd chevy around here has one driving light out, and it annoys me so bad. Is it a bad ground since it will work when I smack it, or a worn out bulb. I didnt try replacing it yet, thought id get some insight since around here in PA 95 percent of the chevys/gmcs that are a truck/suv have one driving light out.

One of mine has been out for almost a year. One of those days, I'll have to change the bulb.

And yes, a lot of GM trucks around here have the same issue....at least one of the lights is out.

my step-fathers does (or did) that as well .. after replacing the bulb for him, i noticed the contact was a little loose .. so took a small screwdriver to tighten it back up a bit .. and checked the ground wire ... etc etc... so far .. its been almost 2 years and both are still working...

Does anyone have a GM part number at least for the silverado, mines a 99, and maybe some cross refrence numbers to some of the major bulb manufacturers that can be purchased at autozone etc. GM Parts Directs catalog is down for updating, so it kills my lifeline lol.

I got the number I should have done a search before posting this, but a part number for a Sylvania light bulb with long life and is now the recommended replacement bulb now at least in an incandescant. 4114LL is the number

When my drl went out early on in the life of Big Blue, I replaced both with ambers and haven't looked back.

I finally had enough of mine this year and took them both out. Couldn't get both to work for more than a couple days.

On my 2000, I replaced them both with Amber and they lasted until I sold it to my bro in March.

I think the term for this is : One-Eye-Bow-Tie.

i think i read that the wattage of the bulb is to much for the pigtail ? in the previous generation were they 194's , 905's? every second chevy and gmc around here is the same, i switched to ambers but you could switch to leds.

When my drl went out early on in the life of Big Blue, I replaced both with ambers and haven't looked back.

That's what I did a year after I bought my 99. Got some Sylvania "Long Life" bulbs in amber (I think they are 3157A-LL) color and they are still both working.

I remember commenting to the dealer one day when I wen to get a bulb replaced that I usually see about 1/3 of the newere trucks with one DRL out and the majority is the left side bulb. The guy sad he was not aware of anyone having DRL bulb problems.

But not everyone knows how to check their DRL's if another person is not around to hel or they don't have a way for the bulbs to reflect off something. Then soem people just don't care.

my moms truck did the same thing and we messed with the socket of the bulb a bit, and replaced the light and its been working ever since, just a quick question where did you guys get your amber drls!!!! i cannot find them anywhere around here!!

I got sick of replacing one or the other every bloody month, so I threw blue some LED's in............been forking fine for over a year now.
