Free Tires From 3/4 Ton Sierra Will They Work?

My father has a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD CCSB D/A, and he has 13000 miles on the tires. They are at half tread life all around. He is buying new tires this weekend, and he said I can have the old tires. Will they fit in my silverado? They are 8 or 10 ply 245/75/R16. I know they are heavy, do you think my old brute will have any issues spinning these beasts? If not Ill put them on after winter for summer tires.

They'll fit fine. I had the option to go with a D or E load range tire, but I stayed with the C because of the ride quality.

I've got 265/75/16 in an E load range.......they still ride ok.......maybe a bit rougher but I keep them aired down some.................you should have no problem with those tires.

I know some people have different opinions than I do, but IMO a truck is a truck and I want it to ride like one. If I wanted a smooth ride, I would get a car. Not trying to offend anyone, but why is super smooth ride quality something people want in a truck?

BJD3,

I am right there with you on that statement. On my trucks I prefer the stability, firmness and durability of LT metric AT tires, up-sized a few sizes from factory. I find when set up the right way, full size trucks can ride smoother than some cars.

Ride quality meaning how its going to handle and if it will spin those heavy things with my 5.3. I can roast those Destination A/ts if i want because they are light as hell. I used to have a 1996 F350 that everytime I hit a bump id be touching the headliner. I know what trucks ride like and I love that ride. My silvy was a impulse buy, wish I shopped for a diesel 3/4 ton regular cab, but yeah well.
