i have no idea ... the only things i can think of is i put a glasspack with dual exhauts comin out of it ( cause i'm cheap lol ) and ran prolly 7 or 8 tanks through it since then. and we had flooding down here in lacrosse and i ran through a bunch of spots where it was up past my nerf bars ... not sure if that did anything but i have no idea about the warranty part .... anyone else know?!

Could even be a bad fuel cap. Anything short of a good sealed system can trigger the code.

turned on last week about friday ... i did go to autozone .. thats where i go the code from ... the guy couldnt tell me anything really ... just the code

I know if the fuel cap is put on loose, the light will come on and stay on for a while even after you tighten it. The guy at emmissions testing checked my fuel cap but didnt tighten it and the light came on and stayed for a few days after I found it loose and tightened it.

well i tightened it 2 days ago so we'll see what that does ... i didn't put gas in it for a few days before this happened tho so i wouldnt think it would just come loose like that ... but it's tightened now ... for some reason i just dont think that's what it is ... god hates me and that would just be way to easy of a fix LOL

Easy fix.

Go to your GM dealer, and pick this up:

GM has an updated Evap Vent Valve Service Kit.

Follow the instructions that come with the kit. I just fixed another 01 Silverado last week that was triggering the same P0440 code.

If you know any GM Techs...they can print you a GM TSB on the condition.
