What's This Squiggly Line For?

Was looking over the warning lights of my new Sierra Denali when I noticed this unusual icon: img-resized.png Reduced: 27% of original size [ 3072 x 2048 ] - Click to view full imageSpeedo-Quest-1.jpg

Anybody know what this is or comes on for?

And yes I did look in the manual; it shows the icon for the engine but not the squiggly line.

On diesel engines, that indicates the glow plugs warming up, I think

 tde, you beat me to answer by a minute! (...and with a more accurate answer too)

Yep, it's the symbol for a glow plug when the vehicle is diesel-powered.

You're right! That is the light for the glowplugs on the diesels. You turn the key to the run position and that light comes on. When the light light goes off it's time to crank the motor.

Naw, you're all wrong! That's the roll-over indicator, it comes on as you go rolling down the median after a tire blow-out! Oh wait, that would be on a Ford Explorer! Sorry, my bad! LOL!

hahah yeah roll over indicator. Its glow plugs, and if it lights up on your truck id think your in trouble. Its just a way for GM to save some money and use one dash style for everything.

I remember when I was a kid my folks had a 1983 Buick Electra Estate Wagon with the 5.7L Diesel. It had a big old light that said "Diesel Wait". You turn the key on and wait for the big ka'thunk when the relay turned the glow plugs off and the light would go out. Then crank her over. That was the coolest sounding diesel in an automobile I've ever heard.

I had an 82 Olds Custom Cruser with the diesel and if you lived in cold country (Which I did) you might have a long wait for them to get up to temp. It's been a while but I seem to remember once when it got down to 30 below I went out and turned on the ignition and after waiting a couple of minutes went back into the house for coffee. Went back out and the glow plugs just turned off as I shut the door. But, it started right up. Did I hear someone say Diesel #1?
