Leveling Kit Questions

I searched the hell out of this board and have not yet found a straight answer. I am looking to purchase a Rough Country Leveling Kit for my 01 GMC Z71. My questions are:

 

1. Should I be concerned about any premature wear/failure on any of the front drive, steering, or suspension components? It would be installed with the front at lowest setting for the new keys, which I understand is 1.5" higher than stock, and the rear would be raised .3" higher than stock.

 

2. Are there any special tools needed to remove the stock keys and install the new ones?

I installed mine and it went together so fast it was scary! I counted the threads in the T-Bar bolts just to put them back to original depth to where I was with the Ford Keys installed. The lift from the keys took the front end up over 2 inches (closer to 2.5") so I ended up lowering it a little to ensure I had the level look I wanted. GO GET AN ALIGNMENT as soon as you're done. If you wait on this you run the risk of ruining some front end parts. I had to replace my centerlink because I waited almost 5 months (bad idea) . Anyway, the link 2000 Z71 posted should give you step-by-step instructions and this mod is not hard at all. The keys from a 1999-2003 Ford 1/2 ton 4X4 will do the trick. That is what I purchsed for my Sierra. Just remember to be safe and take your time. Your ride will be rougher but I didn't mind, shoot, it's a 4X4 not a Cadillac! Now it's time to purchase some bigger tires and have some fun.
