Bosch Fuel Pump - Better Than Oem?

Recommended Posts

I just chekcked the US-website of Bosch and saw that they are making Fuel Pumps for Chevy's as well. They claim to have a supposedly new design (turbine) that purportedly has many advantages over conventional designs.

However when I looked on the net for it to see how much it will cost, I could not really find it for sale anywhere.

Has anyone ever used it. Is it really better or basically just the same as the OEM unit?

I can tell you what I know. We (CARQUEST) have been selling Airtex pumps for years and we still do. However, we have just added Bosch and Delphi for several applications. We did this so we could offer an OE pump in most all applications. Not an OE look alike, but the real thing. In other words, if your truck came with a Delphi unit, that is what we would use to replace it. We did add 7 part #s of the Bosch Trubine designed pumps. You are correct in saying that Bosch claims these units to be superior in design. I do believe that you get the pump only and have to put it in your module where with the others, you get the entire module.

Whatever you decide, be sure and replace the in tank filter and keep everything super clean as you do the job. These pumps cannot handle dirt and grit and the cleaner your work area the better.

I just put a Bosch pump in my truck a couple hours ago. One of the main reasons I bought it is if it goes bad (God forbid...) it has a lifetime warranty. Even the strainer has a lifetime warranty. The design for my truck also eliminated the fuel pulsator. All there is now where it was is a piece of rubber fuel line. I bought mine at Advance Auto with free shipping. Cost me a little over $100 for the pump, strainer, and a Carter in-tank wiring harness (replaced it for piece of mind). That new pump is whisper quiet as well. You can barely hear it when it primes, and when I tried it after installation, it went right to 65 psi and held steady... I think it is a good deal, but only time will tell... but the lifetime warranty is always a good thing
