Roof Mounted Dvd Player

Anybody have a dvd player mounted on their headliner ? I was looking at a nive Alpine dvd player and wanted to know what you guys have. This would be for a extended cab, not a crew cab. Are there beams under the headliner to mount it to ? And is there already a 12 voly supply there. I know the dome light would be removed but that power supply only works when the dome light is turned on by a door opening or at the light switch.

Mine is 05 crew but It is a piece of cake, you don’t have to remove the head liner and the pillar covers come off easily and they have no inclination of breaking like in the old days. I was very impressed with how well the truck was put together and easy it was to work on as you can see I pulled just the drivers side down to run the wires. You do not even have to do that there is a nice little trough to fish the wires. Just run power down to the fuse box

Does the screen swivel left and right?

It is a Panasonic CY-VHD9401U 9" screen and is swivels 30 degrees left and right. I got it refurbished on eBay for $250. But I am not sure I want to recommend it. In zoom or full screen I can see lines in the picture not like the screen is not performing but like the source is sending a low quality signal. I have not checked on more then one disc so I can’t confirm that yet. But what I can say is that the screen shakes over bumps. I know these trucks ride a bit rough but it is too much, not a good design. The screen is supported by 2 horizontal shafts on either side one side seems okay but the other is about an inch long and it can be moved with a bit of pressure. It is not loose it is just undersized to support the screen. Also the dome light has a drain so the computer shuts the feed power to it every night hence you come back in the morning open the door the front map lights come on but the ones on the player don’t, the fix here so far is if you manually turn on the front map light you can hear the relay in the dash trip and the dome lights work again as long as the truck is not turned off longer then 15 minutes.

One last thing if I could fine one that had the screen mounted at the rear of the unit I would get that one. But as far as hookups I forgot to mention this comes with 2 IR headphones and it has an optical out for Dolby digital. It also has several RCA in and outs.
