Replacing Muffler Options On Silverado

I currently have a single inlet to dual outlet muffler, made by ractive. It sounds good at idle and up to 2500 rpms, but after that the tone doesnt really change. Also its not really obnoxious, which is something I want. I think the 40 series or a bullit is what im looking at putting in. Only problem I have is my current exhaust is all welded in, and I really hate to hack away at my tubing. Basically I want to keep all my tubing, but replace the muffler to something thats loud, obnixous, throaty, wake up the neighborhood, etc. Should I just hack the muffler out with my sawzall, and get someone to put unions in my tubing I have now to install a new muffler? I just dont want to get in too deep.

Yeah, Just cut it out. New mufflers come with sleeves so the pipes can fit over it. Once its been cut out weld the original pipes onto the muffler.

Also, any recommendations other then the 40 or the bullit, and which one is louder, or one that might be even louder, I just want something that is so loud its almost annoying, but I have to have the cats because of emmisions.

This is a 40 series that will work as far as the inlet and outlet, is this a good price?

The muffler doesn't even need to be larger. Muffler swapping is a very simple process. The tech might need to add a longer sleeve so everything is in place but your not talking big money here, Just a few dollars more. And if loud is what your looking for, here.

Cherry Bomb Extreme Muffler. Awesome agressive tone and pretty loud.

I listened to the sound clip online, it sounded better then mine, but didnt seem overly loud. Ill look around on youtube for videos with them. Ill be doing this in my driveway, since exhaust really isnt hard to do. I have all the tools in the world to accomplish this.

I watched a whole bunch of videos on youtube, and the flowmasters and the cherry bombs all have their pluses and minuses. Most of them have lots of distorsion, so thats not helping me make my decision. Id rather hear one around here, but no body seems to have aftermarket exhausts on their silverados where I live.

I have Flowmaster 40 series on my 01 dakota with a 4.7L. You can hear me coming but there not ground shaking wake up the neighborhood loud. Cherry Bombs though are pretty loud and they get louder with age.

Dynomax Bullet!

Yes, a Cherrybomb is a glasspack. And for the record, a bullet is not [completely] the same as a glasspack. Bullets have different packing and do not have louvers inside them, just a straight-thru perforated pipe. They sound a lot better too, IMO.

The Extreme mufflers Rocco mentioned are like Flowmaster's 10 series. They are about as loud as a chambered muffler can get, but I think a glasspack or bullet would be louder.

Here are the mufflers mentioned from loudest to quietest:

Bullet > Glasspack > Extreme > Flowmaster 40

go with what i have cut it off right before the muffler run pipe to where the end of the muffler would be split it with a y pipe then run two 2 1/4 in pipes back to 18 in. long tips that are 3.5 in. in diameter you will be so happy and everyone will be jelous im sure of it. you will love yourself for doing it. this is what i did and theres not one person out there that doesnt like my exhaust even my grandma was like wow thats loud reminds me of the old days. and then she went on about how its sounded so cool and was not bad sounding here is a link to pics.

    • A complete delete is the most thorough mechanical solution, but it is also major engine work. On a quiet truck that is still under extended warranty, opening the engine purely as prevention is difficult to justify. A plug-in disabler stops commanded cylinder deactivation, but it does not remove or repair the collapsible lifters, so it should not be treated as failure insurance. I would keep the oil full, document the maintenance, and have any persistent tick, misfire, or loss of power diagnosed promptly. If the engine eventually has to come apart, that is the logical time to compare an OEM-style repair with a complete delete. The right choice depends on the truck’s symptoms, warranty status, expected ownership period, and whether the engine already needs to be opened. We explain that decision in more detail here—full disclosure, this is our own guide: https://www.bluev8.com/blogs/news/do-you-actually-need-an-afm-disabler   One exception: some 2021 L82/L84 trucks have RPO YK9, meaning cylinder deactivation was already disabled in the factory ECM; on those trucks a plug-in disabler is redundant, although the AFM/DFM hardware remains inside the engine.
    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
