Want to get some window vent shades for my wifes Avalanche and my 1500 NBS ( both are 07's) has anybody bought and used the kind that clip/snap-on instead of the tape on kind ? my local accs. store said they scratch the windows and would rather not sell them to me , has anybody had this problem ? Thanks for any help here !

I have had the Vent Shade brand since July of 00 in my truck and the only problem that I have had with them is now that they are getting old they have compressed the felt in the top of the window channel and you can hear a little wind noise now that you could not when they were new. Would I buy them again you bet your sweet bippy I would. The dealer installed a set of stick ons to the wifes new Exploder and 1 was crooked and one came off at about 5,000 miles.:shakehead:

The only problems I see with the pleated side pull shades is...if you are the only one in the truck how would you reach over to grab the blind?

If they are metal instead of fabric, I can see where it'll scratch the windshield.

I've tried the "fitted" accordian fold ones, a little expensive, works extremely well, just very awkward to store when not in use.

I just use a truck size twist-n-fold silver reflecting sun shield. It tucks away between the driver's seat and the floor console.

I have Putco chromed in-channel vent visors, and have no issues with them. Like doverarjim says, the stick on ones suck. I had the driver front one come loose on my 2004 Denali, and it looked bad, and there was no good way to fix it without taking the whole thing off, but the tape was super-sticky on the ends. The stick on ones also protrude more than I like (and look a little red-neck).

Knowing that some minor scratching was a possiblity, I went ahead with the in-channel ones for my 2007 Yukon Denali, and I really like them. Any scratches you get should be confined to the corner of the glass where on one's going to see it anyway. The lower profile design cuts down on wind noise, and looks much more sleek IMO. I will likely only use in-channel ones in the future. FYI, these Putco ones (at least for my truck) also had double-stick mounting tape that goes in the channel to hold them. They're quite solid too.

Hope this helps!

i had the dealer install the clip in kind. now i've had both those and the stick on kind with the tape. i have to say that i really like the clip on kind a ton more. they're more stream line and just look better all around. i haven't had any problems with them, if i were you, that's the ones i'd go with.

that's just my 2cents

I had the Weathertech clip-in in my 2000 Silverado RCSB. As was mentioned before, the only scratching is around the edges where no one can see it anyway. I just put a set in my '07 Sierra. The back ones have some sticky tape to hold them up if someone opens the back window. I also prefer the look of the clip-in kind since they don't stick out as far as the stick on type.

I got mine in the winter time and the box said to wait til the temp is above 60 I think. I waited till the sun was up good and slipped them right in, they have been pulled out 4 or 5 times since then. Mine do not have any tape of any type on them at all.:shakehead:
