Drive With Folded Extang Trifecta Installed Backwards?

I have a 2007 NBS Sierra with the 5'8" bed. I'm heading out for the weekend, and I'm planning to haul a refrigerator ~100 miles at the beginning of the trip. I'd like to take my Extang Trifecta with me so I have the bed covered the rest of the weekend (calling for rain Friday night and Saturday morning). With this short bed, the width of the cover doesn't even fit in the length of the bed. I was thinking of installing the folded cover backwards, putting the clamps on the back (after the refrigerator is loaded of course).

Anybody think this is nuts? One thought I had is the wind may get underneath it, but refrigerator should cut down on that somewhat.

Thanks!

Do you have an Ext Cab or Crew Cab, if so it should fit behind your seats when it's folded. I wouldn't recommend driving on the highway as you described as the wind could potentially damage the cover. The other option would be to fold it, then stand it next to the fridge and secure it to the fridge till you get where you're going.

Thanks for the advice, Paul. Unfortunately, I can't put the cover in back seat, as the kids will be back there. We loaded the fridge tonight, and there is enough space to squeeze the tonneau next to fridge at an angle so the tailgate closes. Hopefully the rain holds off until I get to my destination.
