Hd Center Cap

The clown at the tire shop used the impact wrench when he put the center caps back on. That resulted in a half dozen or so of the plastic faux nuts being stripped.

 

Picked up some new nuts from the GM parts guy. The nuts are made to stay in the cap and, so far, I haven't been able to figure out how to replace them.

 

Any help from someone who knows the secret would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance the shop will buy you new center caps? Looking at my old ones, I really don't see how you can just change the lugs without damaging the new ones.

Peter they come out,You just gotta' kinda' force'em out!

If you look at the lug nut covers you'll see some tabs that help hold them in the center cap,you have to push in on the lug nut cover where the tabs are and push them out of the center cap.Then you'll have to push the new lug nut covers into the center caps.

BTW you have to have the center cap off of the truck to replace the lug nut covers.
