Cleaning Mass Air Flow

I want to clean my MASS air flow thingy. What should I watch out for ? what are the dangers ?

how should I do it and what cleaner should I use ?

You need a special mass air flow cleaner, I know that you can get some from an Oreilly's Auto Parts store. All that you have to do is take it out and spray it down, let it dry, and reinstall. Make sure that when you do it you do not touch any of the electrical parts inside the sensor or you will mess it up.

 

I cleaned the MAF sensor in my truck and even though it needed to be replaced it kept the engine running decent until I got a chance to change it.

Scott, CRC was the first to offer MAF cleaner. It is part # 05110. As instructed above, take it off, lay it on a paper towel or clean newspaper and spray the cleaner sparingly into the screen and wire area. The instrcutions will tell you not to soak it.

 

Be sure and let it dry completely before plugging it back up.

 

That is it and you are ready to go.
