06 Silverado Towing Power Mods

I have never done a tune to any of my cheby's. Will I see any benifit from a tune on my 06 Silverado with the 5.3L? Will it provide any power in the rpms used for towing 2000-2500rpms? How much improvement can I expect?

 

I tow a 14 ft trailor with my 3500lb Jeep CJ on it. It tows it well but struggles on the big long hills. Mostly just shifting up and down alot. Although it feels rock solid.

 

Any improvements you guys have done in my situation?

There is no such thing as a tune up anymore.

 

Everything is controlled by a module.

 

Are there any lights on on the dash? If not, then all should be working correctly. Unless, of course, the module is busted.

He didn't mean a "Tune-Up"...he meant a Performance "Tune" for the ECM/TCM.

 

And yes, they do help significantly.

Tow it in 3rd and you won't have to worry about downshifting on hills. The 5.3 was designed to be run at high rpm's. Your not going to hurt anything by revving it.

Also, what gears do you have? That makes a big difference.
