A Few Questions Please.....

1. I tried to paint the bowtie on my NBS Silverado, the color matched but it came out a little rough. The can started spirting on my so its not looking too good. How much can I expect a Paint and Body shop to charge me to color match my bowtie and fix my muck up? Ive never had anything painted so I dont know what this stuff goes for.

2. I installed a magnaflow dual exhaust system on my truck and its all clamped together. How much should expect to pay to get my exhaust welded?

3. Lastly, where can I find tough up paint? I dont trust the crap at Autozone etc, or should I? Dealers? Online maybe?

I know the quotes will be round about figure, due to different areas of the country. Just looking at an estimate. Thanks for everything.

I really cannot hslp you with the body shop question but can telly that most any real Auto Parts store can get you touch up paint in a small bottle or a spray can. If you are not sure about them, simply take your truck to your dealer and they will likely have a bottle in stock.

Unless your exhaust is leaking, I would be happy to have the clamps. In many cases the welding process burns off the outer rust protection leaving the welded seems vulnerable to rust.

Jameson,

normally its $5 to $10 per weld. I paid $5 for my last truck for each weld. It depends on the shop and how busy they are and whether you are going to take the clamps off yourself. You can get aluminized paint to cover the welds, make sure you sand them clean.

I tried the painted bowtie for mine and didn't like the way it turned out so I put a polished billet one on recently. Figure a minimum of one hour labor (call the body shop for their rates) and possibly a little for materials. figure $50 (which is why I ordered the billet aluminum one for mine) or so.

You can buy touch up paint at the dealer or have the guys who paint your bowtie give you some in a container, take a small sealable container with you and they should fix you up. Here again, a lot depends on the workload and personality of the shop.

Don't assume the dealership touch-up paint is something special. I spent the extra $ buying the touch-up paint at the dealership and it doesn't quite match. The touch-up paint is just a bit lighter.
