Light Scratches From Brush And Trees!

Recommended Posts

well kind of like the title says, i took my truck back in the forests the other day at the outdoor hunting/fishing club and she got a little rubbed from some small tree branches and brush, it was dusty at the time so I'm pretty sure that didn't help but i have some nice extremely shallow scratches in my paint... whats the easiest way to remove these?

i heard form a buddy that the mothers 3 step was going to be my best bet! but give me your opinions!!! i don't plan on waxin her for a few more days cuz she's getting muddy on Wednesday so let me know, i wanna see what everybody comes up with!!

thanks in advance

Properly done machine buffing with a very light compound is the only way you will get actual scratches out of the paint. Doing it by hand will be uneven, take forever, and not give good results. Follow up with a good quality wax and it should look better than ever... plus you have some protection from whatever you intend to throw at it through the winter. If you just have light surface scuffs, then a good wax job using a high quality cleaner wax might get most of it out but some scratches will still show. (especially with a dark color)

Good Luck! :banghead:

Yeah i'd suggest an orbital with a very light polishing pad (non cutting) and a good polish. Meguiars has a 3 step deep crystal system which IMO leaves and immaculate finish cleaner, polish, wax. If you don't have an orbital then try some Scratch X if the scratches are in isolated areas of the finish, but be ready to use plenty of elbow grease followed by polishing and waxing.

thanks for all your help guys! it worked out great i went with the Maguires 3 step deep crystal system with my orbital and a very light polishing pad like you said and then buffed it with a real soft buffing pad after words and it turned out great! no more scratches... looks like the day i first brought her home

thanks again! :dunno:
