Rain Sensing Wipers

I thought my truck had this option it's an 07 Sierra 1sc with the convience package. The manual states it has to be set to the delay setting on the wiper stock but how do you activate it? So now I don't know if I have it or not. Is there a seperate switch or something to activate or should it be built to the wiper stock.

There is no seperate switch, it is built into the intermittent wipers. If you set your wipers to delay (any position) and it is dry out, they will not operate (except the initial wipe when you turn them on). Also, the sensor is on the windshield right behind the rear view mirror. if it's not there, you don't have them. if it is, you do. LOL

What option group does it come with my windshield just has the black perforated looking stuff behind the mirror.

Not sure, but if there is no box (about 2" x 2" x 1") mounted on the glass behind the mirror, then you do not have it. I think it's part of the SLT (GMC) and LTZ (Chev) pkg.

BTW, I love those wheels on your truck, I am going to have to get me some of those next summer. I'll keep my aluminum ones for winter. chrome sucks in the wintertime.

And if you don't I'm sorry, cause they are one of the best inventions ever. One of my pet peaves was playing with the fricken wipers all the time, now leave it on if ya want forever. my 03 caddy had it, and i was missing it on the trucks until now. plus i came up with a patent idea on such back in the late 80's, only to find out at the patent office that 30+ others beat me to it. had the same idea and a design on VVT, but again, 15+ beat me to it. it's suprising to me it took 10-15 years for these things to make it to the market.

Do you roadrace? I am a Ex-roadracer, made it to compete with, but never beat the factories in the early 90's, then hit the wall at pocono in 93 to end my career, and luckily not my life. bike on front (in first) blew his engine and i (in 2nd) went down in his oil at 100+mph, luckily hit the wall at a good angle. i was third worse-off of seven. have two big pieces of metal in me. sorry for the off topic but any reference to roadracing makes my blood boil. i still love it.

+1 on the rainsense. Chris, here is an idea I had you are free to steal and run with: Tie the rain sensor into the sunroof, so that if you leave your roof open and it starts raining, it will close automatically. You would obviously need power to the sensor all the time though.

Well I don't see a black box just a plastic piece 2-3" long by an 1" wide where the wires hide. Crap.

I purposely ordered my truck with the 17" wheels so I could use the off road wheels in winter and bought the chrome 20's over the factory 20's. Two sets of wheels for the price of the option for the 20's.

Yes I did road race until 05 I was a top level Expert in my region. Quit after I got a concussion in my last weekend racing for the 600 championship I was tied in points with another guy when a slower rider got a better start and was slowing me up big time. I had to go off the track so I wouldn't t-bone him. Just thought it wasn't worth the risk any more then I shattered my leg on a stupid pit bike how is that for karma just had a plate and 10 screws removed so I know where your coming from.

Was wondering about the rain sensing wipers for the past few weeks and accidentally discovered how they work on the way home tonight.

Apparently I left the wipers in the lowest intermittent setting this morning and forgot it in that position. While driving home tonight it started to rain and the wipers kicked on. The ah-ha moment happened!

Was looking for a special detent setting on the stalk, etc. It's not very clear in the owner's manual.

Hey Sinister, think we are getting enough rain? I heard last night that we have had ONE day this month with zero precip. It's getting really old. What part of the Cities are you from? I am in Woodbury.

Rainsense Wipers in MN are very nice, fiddling with the interment wiper frequency is a PITA and 90% of the time we need our wipers here in MN, we use intermittent as it varies between hard rain, sprinkling, and stopped...then when the roads are wet, it depends on if a car is in front of you or not.

Usually I don't use wipers at all unless I'm coming to an intersection and want a clear view. 99% of the time it's Rain-X and velocity.

Rain doesn't bother me a bit. Perhaps this moisture trend will stick around when it gets colder and I can ride my new sled somewhere in MN this year instead of pulling the trailer all over creation out West.

Would gladly trade these fancy autowipers for auto-up power windows.

Rainsense wipers (RPO Code CE1) are only available on crew-cab LTZ models on the Chevy's,On the GMC's you must either get an SLE2 or SLT crew-cab with the "Preferred Package" (RPO Code PCM) to get them

There not available on any regular or extended cabs,or on WT,SL,LS,SLE1,LT1 or LT2 crew-cabs.

No, not usually, in fact, we have been in a drought for the past several years. This is highly unusual, and I wouldn't expect it to last. Snow lovers are hoping, but I am not getting my hopes up. Snow in MN is becoming a thing of the past. Unless you count nuisance snowfalls.
