Seirra Vmax Vs Seirra Denali

i'm in the process of shopping for my new truck just wondering what truck you guys would go with, i'm leaning towards the denali but any input would be great

I wanted AWD instead of 4wd and I like the 6-speed in the Denali. Even though GMC was controlled in their application of chrome I'd personally prefer the side moulding without a chrome strip. I'm thinking about having the regular Sierra side mouldings put on.

besides the fact that I prefer 4wd over Awd, I think the denali beats the vmax bc of the 6 spd. Man I wish I had a denali. LOL

thanks for the posts, the more i hear from people the more the denali is a clear choice

Drove a 2007 Denali and I can tell you it is a night and day difference, almost feels like you are driving a Caddy (wait isn't a Denali a Caddy, but $10,000 cheaper? :seeya: ) If you get the Denali, just watch out for that Torque Management, otherwise, once you get it tuned, watch out anyone........ :driving:

So with the Denali do you need to use premuim fuel?

No, But it is preferred. The computer will recognize preignition and retard the timing on 87 octane. thus robbing you of a few horsepower. But you dont NEED to use 93.

Why do people always ask that? If you're worried about 20 cents per gallon (that is to say, $5 per $80 tank) why are you about to spend that much on a truck? And if it isn't the cost of premium you are worried about, why ask the question?

Frustrating.

Right on ShaneV. gas cost and mpg makes up a very small percentage of total vehicle owning and operating cost, worse on an expensive vehicle.

I have a S. Denali, and love it, best truck in many, and almost best sedan too. it has some teathing issues, but still minor compared to overall satisfaction.

I have tried 93 and 87 at the request of the dealer to solve one of my small complaints, and i can't tell the difference.

Good luck.

I forgot to add the the 6.0Vmax in a loaded truck is almost same same to the Denali, just the engine/trans difference, and of course some of the denali bling outside. both fantastic trucks. needs/wants is all that's left in your decision. should drive both to be sure.

Just picked up a new 2008 Yukon Denali XL. I'm taking it easy but it is amazing. It has a Very nice ride and decent handling (drove home from dealer over mountain pass at night). The DIC shows around 13MPG for the first 200 miles. I wanted the 6.2/6 speed Suburban or Yukon XL. The only way I could figure out how to get the engine/trans was to get a Denali, so the choice was easy. We didn't want a bunch of options beyond the engine block heater and sunroof, but the dealer had rear entertainment and heated steering wheel on all of them that had sunroof and engine block heater.... got a great price... no trade.

Good point! The difference is chump change and it's the cheapest "performance mod" you can do with your truck. You can feel the difference in an old Vortec with 9.4:1 by moving up to at least 90 octane. With the 6.2 with 10.5:1 CR, the difference should really be noticable.
