Fan Clutch

My car makes a roaring sound when I accelerate, a mechanic told me it is the fan clutch, he said it would cost 300 dollars is that how much it typically costs, or should I shop around. Its a GMC Sierra 1500 V8 5.3

Well the cost of the clutch should be about $60.00. So if you are ok with paying $240.00 in labor then it's fair. If you are not comfortable paying that then see if you can find someone else to do it for less or do it yourself it's not a hard job.
