2003 Gmc Front Door Speaker Replacment.

I need some assistance on replacing my front door speakers. What is the stock wire digraham and what is the best way to remove the door panel? I am instaling 6.5 component speakers with 1" tweaters and crossovers.

One screw behind the handle and one at the bottom of the door. A little pressure inward and lift. Easy as pie.

 

I don't think you'll get much from component speakers without an amp. Most do not perform well unless powered well. If you are going with head power you may want to stay with coaxial. Either way the polarity really isn't important. The speakers work equally well either way as long as both sides are set the same. You can use a multi-meter and check the polarity at the speaker if you must know.

It has a half circle clip behind it on the shaft. If you push the panel back while pulling on the handle a little you can probably see it. Rather than trying to get to with a screw driver or something, (and risking having the clip fly off never to be seen again) it I'd recommend a cheap window crank tool from any auto parts store. It's a universal thing.

 

BTW... I just had the panels off of my 07 GMT900. I wonder why they went back to push in clips instead of the easier 99-07 lift up style door panels?

Probably because they're easier to break and therefore you will have to buy new ones.
