Scratched Windshield

Has anybody had a problem scratching the windshield with an ice scraper? I went out and cleaned the windshield with a plastic ice scraper this morning, and later driving down the road I noticed 5 or 6 big scratches.

No..I've never had that problem....

 

do you have a film of crap on your windshield, maybe thats what scratched...

 

Clean your windshield with a 20/80 Vinegar/water solution see if that helps

Never had that problem on any of my windows, and I have scrapped them really hard before.

I scratched the backglass of my SS doing the same thing. I still get angry every time I see those two lines...Even though I'm likely the only person on the planet that'll ever notice them.

 

I've also scratched the inside of a passenger window on a truck by scrubbing it with the green side of a kitchen sponge. WTF? How does THAT happen?

See, inside scratches I can see...from the "soft-ray" window tint.

 

But theres nothing to scratch on the outside...Unless you have a rock or something caught under the scraper.

If you really did scratch the glass, all you need is some good optical grade cerum oxide and a felt buffing wheel on a right angle grinder, or polisher..... it does take some care though, and you might be better to take it to a body shop, or glass repair shop that can polish them out easily. I re-polished the entire windshield of an old truck that got really messed up and scratched when someone sanded off epoxy paint overspray.
