Whats involved in installing these? I would like to do this before I go with increased line pressure, from a tuner etc. What exactly do I have to do to pop them in?

 

My Drive train has approx 45K miles on it BTW...80 is the max for this swap I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah, they're so cheap for what they do to the trans, I figure why not.

OK...so with a little searching, and a few coffees, I answered my own question.

A quick step by step How-to on the install. Looks to be pretty simple. Its not a total play by play, nor is it servos for dummies...but the backbone info is there.

I'll probably take a crack at this in the spring, I'll switch all my drive train to RP fluid too at that time.

found a better one on gmfullsize, but this mod is only for the 2nd gear. Apparently the 4th is inside the pan or something????

4th gear is in the servo cover. When you get a 4th gear billet hold servo you get a new cover with the servo is in it.

so what exactly does this do and what difference does it make....

Going from memory the Corvette servo holds the band 18% tighter. The 4th hold billet servo holds the over drive band 40% tighter. I no longer use tow-haul mode to tow my camper, no problems at all towing in OD.

Also gets you in the gear quicker. without increasing line pressure. the piston has a larger surface area, allowing the pressure of the fluid to act on it more...remember, pounds per square inch, more SI=greater force from the same pressure.

 

this will take the long 1-2 shift away. Makes shifts less sloppy.
